亚瑟是个无一技之长的建筑工人，大脑慢半拍，性格一根筋，但他沉迷于超级英雄漫画和个人英雄主义，幻想自己是个超人、蝙蝠侠一样的超级英雄，可以在夜间拥有另一个身份惩恶扬善。于是他用眼影、胶带自制了可笑的行头装备，武器更是毫无杀伤力的玻璃珠、橘子汁，每每在出手时被小混混揍得鼻青脸肿。一次挨揍后，一个年轻女子凯瑟琳帮助了他，相处中二人渐渐产生爱情，而亚瑟更要拿着凯瑟琳给他的枪，以卵击石地去找城市的大毒枭挑战……。The film is based loosely around events in December 1995 that culminated in the murders of three drug dealers in Rettendon, Essex, UK. On 6th December Patrick Tate, Craig Rolfe and Tony Tucker, three drug dealers well known to the police, were lured to Workhouse Lane, Rettendon.
