故事开始于1923年加利福尼亚的的瓜达洛普大沙漠，传奇导演Cecile B. DeMille正在拍摄一部名为《十诫》的无声史诗电影。这部电影是根据DeMille自己的想法来拍摄的，这和33年后（1956年）DeMille再次拍摄的Charlton Heston主演的著名版本完全不同。但是片场频繁出现的离奇死亡事件，让DeMille烦恼不已－－更令人感到恐怖的是，这些人的死因和死状很像是传说中的古埃及死神阿努比斯（Anubis）所为。最终，电影摄制完成，但是谁也不知道，片场所使用的古埃及遗物唤醒了邪恶的魔灵。DeMille命人将多余的道具掩埋到黄沙之下…… 80多年过去了，从伊拉克战场上退役的老兵Mark协助年迈的祖父来到当年的电影拍摄地，Mark的祖父希望能挖掘出自己孩童时代亲手埋下的遗物。与此同时，Alice Carter博士带着一群学生来到沙漠腹...。内容讲述1841年英国商人舒狄克(大班)带领舰队，前往中国通商，以鸦片换取茶叶，丝绸及翠玉，煞而遭受满清朝廷禁制，舒舰长于是带领舰队南下占领香港，开辟成为商港，并与其它商人展开勾心斗角的竞赛。但人算不如天算，一场飓风令人他的命运急剧扭转。。Michael is a successful actor, but he has a scandal in his past: at a tender age he knifed his father to death.
