青年黃學勤(黃日華)的好友羅祖光(湯振業)從外國留學返港，欲在公司內大展拳腳，卻為繼母鍾月湄(關菊英)阻撓，幸得學勤和潔瑩(劉嘉玲)幫助，才能度過難關。 祖光打動潔瑩成為情侶。祖光因未婚妻返港，即與潔瑩分手。潔瑩被祖光欺騙感情，非常傷心，幸得學勤細心開解，兩人漸生情愫。祖光與未婚妻感情破裂，再次向潔瑩展開追求，令潔瑩難於抉擇。 祖光生意失敗，企圖以非法手段騙取保險金，後為學勤知悉，加以勸阻，祖光痛悟前非，排除萬難，重新振作。。SYNOPSIS Urgently called, the police inspector has arrived in a hotel, and didn't find any crime, but noticed some strangenesses occurring there. (Strugatsky Brothers website) NOTES This is a crime / mystery thriller with surreal and psychedelic science fiction overtones based on a book Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle by the Strugatsky brothers. The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems? Who's dead or who's not?。
