1926年，青年知识分子肖涧秋（孙道临 饰）应老同学陶慕侃（高博 饰）之邀，来到浙东小镇中学任教。在前往赴教的轮船上他遇到了丈夫死于广州起义的文嫂（上官云珠 饰），顿生同情之心。在陶慕侃为其举行的欢迎家宴上，他认识了陶的妹妹，活泼大方的陶岚（谢芳 饰）。交谈中方知在轮船上遇到的孤儿寡母竟是老同学李志浩的家小。出于正义和同情，肖涧秋经常资助造访文嫂家，这引起了周围人议论。而肖的正义品格却赢得了陶岚的爱慕，此时的肖涧秋陷入了巨大矛盾之中。他爱陶岚，更同情饥寒交迫的文嫂一家，考虑再三他决定娶文嫂为妻。陶岚无比震惊，指责他这不是爱情是因为同情。此时，一直暗恋陶岚的钱正兴（王培 饰）来到肖的宿舍，表示愿意出钱资助他与文嫂结婚，并希望他把陶岚让给自己。肖涧秋闻言怒不可遏......。JERUSALEM takes audiences on an inspiring and eye-opening tour of one of the worlds oldest and most enigmatic cities.
